Biodiesel and glycerin prices were holding mostly steady from last week, as market activity has been muted with the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Crude glycerin values continue to hold in the 10 to 11 cents per pound price range, while limited reporting suggests Kosher crude values may be continuing to edge higher.
Biodiesel prices are beginning to see some volatility further down the curve. Most producers are reflecting prices within last week’s regional ranges. However, a few may be trending lower. There have been reports of Q2/Q3 2024 biodiesel trading at HO minus .35, which is in line with some current Midwest pricing.
There have been other reports of spot pricing falling to HO minus .55 to HO-.70. Spot market values are declining with spot market demand, and those needing to move product are seeing logistics-related problems. Most modes of transportation and/or equipment are fully committed through January, according to one source.
