Cow Hides Remain in Firm Demand

Cow Hides Remain in Firm Demand

**Please note — The Jacobsen will close trade for the bulletin on Friday, Dec 29th at 1pm CT and publish shortly thereafter. There will be no reports on Monday, Jan 1st.**

Trading in the US hide market was slow today ahead of the early closure on Friday and the New Year’s Day closure on Monday. Hide plants and tanneries are expected to be closed over the weekend and, in some cases, for several days extending holiday periods.
A small quantity of packer Heavy Texas Steers hides traded up $2.50/piece from yesterday’s levels. Several sellers stated their last sold prices were steady or lower with yesterday’s price levels due to the consistent, low bids on branded hide material from shoe tanners.
