Buyers were active in the hide market today, bidding on cow and jumbo weighted steer material. Some sellers stated the bids were several dollars lower than last traded levels, whereas a few others stated the bids were at steady to last traded levels.
According to several sellers, there is a large supply of jumbo weight steer hides available on the market. Buyers are attempting to push the price levels lower, but sellers are holding firm on their steady offers to current market levels for the week. The sellers‘ urgency to trade jumbo weight material is unclear and buyers interest is weak. The coming few days should bring more closed sales and a better idea on price levels moving forward.
