Jumbo Hide Shipments Narrow Margins

The US hide market began the week with packers stating there was good volume of steer and cow hides traded over the weekend. Most of the material traded was selections that are not listed on The Jacobsen Price Guide, such as premium Dairy Steer and Native Cow hides or wet blue hides.
A small volume of Heavy Texas Steer hides sold $2.50/piece higher than the last reported trade, but steady to the packer’s last reported trade.
Most sellers reported steer and cow hides continue to trade at steady to current market levels or sometimes slightly higher in some cases.
