Cattle Slaughter Levels Normalize after Holiday, Weather Interruptions

The market was very quiet today with no changes reported. March soybean oil futures were up 1.26 cts/lb on the day, which also contributed to the pause in the market.

Cattle slaughter finished last week at an estimated 617,000 up 13.0 percent from the storm-shortened prior week. The Jacobsen is forecasting cattle slaughter at 620,00 head this week and at an average of 615,830 over the next six weeks.
