Long-Term Contract Behind Massive Increase of Wet Blue Sales to Hong Kong

Midweek trading was minimal with one trade reported for regular-weight Butt Branded Steer (BBS) hides, down $0.50/piece. The trade is at an unchanged price from the seller’s last reported trade.
Buyers were actively bidding for material, approximately $1/piece to $2/piece lower than last traded levels. Sellers feel confident most selections will sell at steady to current market price levels.
Buyers bidding on cow hides were more resistant to current market offer levels today than they have been in the past several weeks. Upholstery tanners remain very active in the market but have discussed that the seasonally slow time is approaching for hide buying.
