Global shipping crisis deepens

Organic Bulletin readers have inquired about the impacts of the collapse of Baltimore’s Frances Scott Key bridge on organic imports.  The tragic loss of life early on Tuesday morning after the container vessel Dali struck the bridge is thought to have been caused by a systems failure on the vessel.  Officials have been reticent to assign cause to the incident.

There were two Baltimore Harbor Pilots on board at the time.  Ports require a ships master to defer to local harbor pilots on local navigation issues.  Pilots are transported in all weather conditions to outlying anchorages or transferred to transiting vessels while underway.
