Canadian hemp operator eyes feed markets

Just months after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its proxy in the feed regulation sphere – the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) – approved hempseed meal for use in poultry feed, a Canadian firm is also seeking to develop a market for hempseed in Canada.

Alberta-based AltaGreen has developed hempseed-based feed rations in partnership with InnoTech Alberta and the University of Alberta. AltaGreen has developed rations for three categories, including chicks, broilers, and laying hens, aspiring to enter the Canadian market this year.
