US hide trading low at start of week

Some sellers were expecting lower offer prices for the week of April 22 compared with the previous week to attempt an increase in sales volumes.

Cattle slaughter forecast
Cattle slaughter is forecast by Fastmarkets research at 625,400 head this week, up by 0.81% from last week but down by 0.30% from last year.

Cattle slaughter finished last week at an estimated 620,000 head, up by 2.82% week on week and down by 0.86% year on year.

Over the next six weeks, slaughter is forecast by Fastmarkets research at an average of 622,500 head per week, up by 0.24% from the same period in 2023 but down by 3.86% from 2022.
