Automotive hides decrease in price

Trading for US hides intended for automotive tanning was at softer price levels than the week prior, driven by pushback from tanners to pay steady price levels, given the minimal leather demand from automakers.

Packer, regular weight Heavy Native Steer hides and jumbo Butt Branded Steer hides traded on Monday April 29 at $31 per piece and $29 per piece respectively, which was a respective price drop of $1 per piece and $2 per piece from Friday April 26.

Purchase volumes were small, according to the sellers, approximately three loads.
