US soymeal export sales fall 52%, dropping below expectations

Chicago Mercantile Exchange grain prices were mixed on Thursday May 23. The July CME soybean futures contract fell by 7 cents per bushel to settle at $12.39 per bu.

The July soymeal futures contract decreased by $1.50 per short ton to $376.70 per ton, but July corn rose by 2.75 cents per bu to $4.64 per bu.

Meanwhile, July wheat increased by 5 cents per bu to close at $6.98 per bu.

Following recent losses in soybean oil, soybean prices showed a downward shift. Wheat prices climbed higher, driven by lower global production estimates from the International Grains Council (IGC), which prompted more technical buying. Corn prices were also higher due to lingering concerns about planting delays in some rain-soaked parts of the Midwest.
