Argentina
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Trade and Worship reported on May 22 that frozen and fresh chilled beef exports, mainly to China and Germany, had grown year on year during the first four months of 2024.

The National Food Safety and Quality Service (SENASA) previously recorded beef exports for April totaled 44,347 tonnes, down 18% from the month prior. The decrease was due to a three-day strike by the Association of State Workers (ATE) in late April.

May export figures are expected to be released by the end of the month.

The avian influenza A (H5N1) was identified in sea elephants in Argentina, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were no reported cases among cattle, but the market remains vigilant of symptoms within the herds.
