US hide export sales shift above weekly, yearly levels

In the US, regular-weight butt branded steers (BBS) were unchanged at $26.00 per piece on Monday July 15, while regular-weight Colorado branded steers (CBS) were down by $0.375 per piece to $19.25 per piece.

Meanwhile, regular-weight heavy branded heifers (HBH) were down by $0.25 per piece to $17.00 per piece, and regular-weight branded steers (BS) were up by $0.25 per piece to $21.50 per piece.

Cattle slaughter forecast
Cattle slaughter was forecast by Fastmarkets’ research team at 615,000 head in the week to July 20, up by 2.33% week on week but down by 1.74% year on year.

Cattle slaughter finished the week to Saturday July 13 at an estimated 601,000 head, up by 15.13% week on week but down by 5.12% year on year.
