International animal fats and oils, August 8, 2024

European used cooking oil (UCO) prices showed a bit of volatility during the week ended Thursday August 8, with local material reportedly trading in a wide range of €985-1,050 ($1,075-1,147) per tonne DDP North-West Europe (NWE).

UCO prices moved lower, pressured by softer prices for gasoil and used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME), with the gasoil front-month contract on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) closing at $702 per tonne on Tuesday August 6, its lowest since July 2023, following a stock market drop on Monday August 5.

Trades for imported UCO were reported as low as $968-975 per tonne and as high as $1,050 per tonne CIF Rotterdam, depending on origin and quality.

Selling ideas for Chinese UCO shipped in bulk were heard at $877-880 per tonne FOB China.
