The price of Brazilian wet blue TR1 hides was $0.60-0.62 per square foot during the week to Thursday August 22, unchanged from the week prior, a seller source said.

Most market participants are anticipating a pick-up in demand following the All-China Leather Fair (ACLE) that will take place September 3-5.

There was little change in the market during the week to August 16, but several market participants were optimistic for the ACLE.

Some tanners received hides at discounts from US processors. Big packers continued to hold prices steady to last-traded levels.

Buying interest was unchanged from the previous week from some Chinese buyers, which relied heavily on prices. A few Brazilian wet blue sellers sold hides at discount into the Chinese market during the week.
