Brazil’s CICB releases EUDR compliance guide for hide tanners in the country

Brazil
The price of Brazilian wet blue TR1 hides was $0.60-0.62 per square foot during the week to Thursday September 5, unchanged from the week prior, a seller source told Fastmarkets.

Italian tanners returned from their summer holiday and began inquiring Brazilian sellers about market prices, Fastmarkets heard.

The Center for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) released a guide on September 5 for Brazilian tanneries to comply with the upcoming European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) to begin at the end of this year.

China
Several market participants reported little change in the market during the week ended August 30, with many buyers meeting with visiting sellers at tanneries.

Some smaller tanners were actively bidding and looking for price discounts. Many sellers were resistant to accepting price decreases.
