Scoular Kansas soybean crush plant to begin operations in October amid growing biofuel demand

Scoular will begin operations sometime in October at its new canola and soybean oilseed crush facility in Goodland, Kansas, the company said on Wednesday September 18.

The facility will be able to process 1,000 tonnes of oilseeds per day and will supply vegetable oils into the renewable fuels market as well as feed products to dairy, beef, poultry and pork producers.

In addition to the new plant, Scoular also operates three other processing facilities in Goodland.

In the last several months, various new soybean crush plants have started operations across US that will supply soybean oil to the market, with demand for the feedstock from the US biofuels industry continuing to grow.

Data released on August 30 by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that US biomass-based biodiesel and renewable diesel capacity expanded in June, which helped to push monthly feedstock consumption to a record high.
