Sales into Europe were weak during the week to Thursday, and a Spanish leather tanner was forced to file for bankruptcy due to depressed leather demand, Fastmarkets heard.
A few US packers and traders traded regular-weight heavy native steer (HNS) and butt branded steer (BBS) hides $0.50 per piece higher than last reported levels. Regular-weight heavy Texas and branded steer hides traded up $0.75 per piece from last traded levels. Branded heifer hides traded $1.00 per piece above the last reported levels.
