Brazilian TR1 hides increase in price, supported by tight supply, moderate demand

Brazilian hide demand for the week ended Thursday November 7 was moderate and supply was tight, which encouraged big packers to increase flesh hide prices by R$0.10-0.20 per kg ($0.02-0.04 per kg).

The price of Brazilian wet blue TR1 hides traded at increased levels from the week prior, at $0.62-0.68 per square foot during the week to Thursday, a few sellers told Fastmarkets.

According to Brazil’s Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics Index (CEPEA/B3 Index), which covers daily prices for fed cattle in Brazil’s São Paulo region, beef carcass prices traded in the wholesale market increased by 16% in October due to tight cattle supply and firm global beef demand.
