Hide shipments resume following halt of Canadian port strikes

Several market participants were active in the market on Tuesday November 12, selling a moderate volume of steer hides at flat to last traded levels. Several sources also reported that the port strikes at British Columbia and Montreal in Canada had ended following government intervention.

A few hide sellers that experienced trade disruptions told Fastmarkets that hide shipments were set to resume immediately after Federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon spoke with media directing the Canada Industrial Relations Board to resume all operations and sent talks to binding arbitration.
