Hide demand was mild on Wednesday November 13, several sellers told Fastmarkets, but they had wrapped up steer hide trading from early-week negotiations. Sellers noted that supply of jumbo-weight material has begun to ramp up, as heavier-weight hides are typically more common in the colder months.
Packer branded, butt branded and Colorado branded steer hides traded flat to higher compared with last traded prices but down for processor material. Packer regular-weight butt branded steer hides increased by $0.50 per piece from last traded levels, but processor material dropped by $1 per piece.
Processor light-weight butt branded steer and Colorado branded steer, as well as regular-weight Colorado branded steer hides, all traded down by $1 per piece from last traded levels. The seller indicated that the sales were part of a package deal to the same customer.
