Market participants told Fastmarkets that hide demand was mild on Thursday November 14 with shoe tanners notably absent but upholstery tanners continuing their strong interest in cow and certain steer hide selections.
Several shoe tanners told sellers that their inventories were full and they did not have new orders incoming so they did not have much interest in new hide material. However, a few sellers said that if material was sold at lower-to-flat prices from the previously traded levels, then buyers would be willing to buy decent volumes.
A seller reported that Colorado branded steer hides, for light and regular-weight, were down by $0.50 per piece from the last-traded prices.
