Flat hide prices mark week’s end amid weather, demand concerns

The week wrapped up on Friday November 22 with most steer and cow hides trading flat to last-traded prices, with a few exceptions, driven by moderate buying demand, sources said.

Packer light-weight heavy native steer hides traded up $0.50 per piece and butt branded steer hides traded up $1 per piece. But regular weight butt branded steer hides traded down $1 per piece, falling in line with pricing for light-weight material.

Dairy cow and steer hides traded at steady levels compared with the last recorded transactions. But the focus is shifting to fed steer hides for next week, with processors saying they’re facing challenges selling at consistent prices amid reduced demand for fed steers. This reflects ongoing market pressures and cautious buying behavior.
