Bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) prices rose again on Tuesday November 26 during another relatively quiet trade session while the market slows ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday in the US.
Three cars of renderer-grade BFT traded higher late on Monday November 25, at 45 cents per lb on a Chicago basis, mirroring recent gains in the adjacent packer BFT market.
Tallow prices in Chicago have edged higher this week, with sources suggesting the move is somewhat delayed, as prices did not initially follow soybean oil’s sharp gains earlier in the month.
Participants noted that the recent uptick is also likely driven by limited spot availability, with most material already committed through the end of the year, along with some alignment with recent price trends in the Gulf.
