Fastmarkets will be updating our reporting in 2025 to reflect changes in the hemp marketplace. The hemp industry is rapidly evolving, and product categories and specifications are fluid. We’re seeking your input – as we do with stakeholders in all our markets – to help guide our reporting.

Fiber reporting will see a significant update to reflect the scope and geography of those markets. When we began reporting on hemp fiber markets, the most active trading occurred in the Southeast US. Volumes were quite low, and price per pound was appropriate for accurate reporting. We intend to move to price per ton in 2025.

Fiber production has since shifted to other regions, with significant infrastructure development in Texas, Montana, and Missouri among other states.  Infrastructure development does not necessarily translate into a meaningful increase in supply or demand.
