Finnish transport fuel producer Neste has inked a deal to supply its renewable diesel —100% hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) — to four of BMW’s car manufacturing plants in Germany.
The fuel will be used for the initial fill of diesel vehicles leaving BMW’s facilities in Munich, Dingolfing, Leipzig and Regensburg, and will impact more than 50% of BMW’s global production volume of diesel vehicles.
BMW recently approved the use of HVO to include a larger portion of its car models.
First deliveries of the fuel to the individual plants have already begun.
“Renewable diesel plays an important role in the transformation toward sustainable mobility globally,” Joerg Huebeler, Neste’s head of market development EU & APAC, Transport & Industry, said.
