US export hide sales plunge by 60% to 173,901 pieces

The US hide market remained quiet on Friday December 27. Market participants reported limited activity and anticipate more price movements in the new year.

US export hide sales decreased by 60.23% to 173,901 pieces in the week to December 19 from 426,439 pieces the week prior, while shipments decreased by 12.60% to 514,411 pieces from 581,537 pieces.

Total export sales for the 2024 marketing year were 25,666,582 pieces on December 19, almost all cured hides.

The average year-to-date weekly trend for federally inspected slaughter was 599,695 pieces. Export sales averaged 503,266 pieces and export shipments averaged 514,864 pieces.
