US biodiesel and renewable diesel (RD) producers used a record 2.1 billion lb of vegetable oils in October as overall capacity remained unchanged.
US biomass-based diesel (BBD) capacity held at a six-month low of 6.575 billion gallons during October, according to data released on Tuesday December 31, by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Renewable diesel/other biofuels annual capacity held steady at 4.58 billion gallons annually, while biodiesel capacity remained at 1.995 billion gallons.

October BBD feedstock consumption of 3.39 billion lb was 17% above September’s 2.9 billion lb and 15% over October 2023 consumption of 2.9 billion lb.
BBD demand for vegetable oils reached a record high during October, while waste fats, oils and greases (FOG) also moved higher.
