Hide market poised for post-holiday trading

Hide market poised for post-holiday trading

Weather condition may impact hide operations on the US East Coast, where possible snow could disrupt plant activities, market participants said on Monday January 6.

In Mexico, tanneries resumed operations following the holiday break, which may lead to some fresh momentum in the market later in the week, sources said.

Sellers were optimistic about increased trading starting from Wednesday January 8, as the market adjusts to these developments and participants return to regular operations.

With the Lunar New Year celebrations beginning on January 29 and continuing through the Lantern Festival on February 12, market activity may continue tp be sluggish.

Cattle slaughter forecast
Fastmarkets analysts project cattle slaughter numbers to trend downward in 2025, which may lead to higher cattle prices, which, in turn, could have ripple effects across the market.
