Brazil’s beef production projected to decline in 2025, impact hide supply

Brazil
The price of Brazilian wet blue TR1 hides remained unchanged week on week at $0.64-0.70 per square foot CFR on Thursday January 30, a few sellers told Fastmarkets.

Brazil’s total meat production is forecast to remain steady at 31.56 million tonnes in 2025, according to the National Supply Company (CONAB). While beef output is expected to decline by 4.9% to 10.3 million tonnes due to herd retention, poultry and pork production are projected to increase by 2.3% and 3.1% respectively. Beef exports are anticipated to rise by 2.1% to 3.8 million tonnes, while domestic availability is expected to drop by 8.5%, potentially firming prices. Despite shifts in individual meat categories, CONAB projects overall per capita meat availability to decline by 1.8%, to just above 102 kg per year.
