US cattle slaughter forecast below weekly, yearly levels

The US hide market was steady on Monday February 3, with sources reporting limited activity and prices consistent with those from the previous week.

Cattle slaughter forecast
Fastmarkets’ research team forecast cattle slaughter at 605,000 head for the week to February 8, down by 0.82% from the prior week and down by 1.94% from the year prior.

Over the next six weeks, Fastmarkets’ research team projects cattle slaughter to average 597,500 head per week, down by 0.18% year on year and by 0.42% from the prior six-week average.
