US weekly export hide sales down 6%; YTD shipments down 9%

The US hide market was quiet on Thursday February 13, with reports indicating that heavy native steers were traded at steady prices, while butt branded steers traded below yesterday’s price levels.

US export hide sales decreased by 6% to 442,985 pieces in the week to February 6 from 470,228 pieces the week prior, while shipments decreased by 7% to 518,185 pieces from 557,575 pieces.

Total export sales for the 2025 marketing year were 2,907,050 pieces in the week to February 6, almost all cured hides.

Total shipments for the 2025 marketing year were 2,678,305 pieces in the week to February 6, down by 9% from the previous year.

The average year-to-date weekly trend for federally inspected slaughter was 542,345 pieces. Export sales averaged 484,508 pieces, and export shipments averaged 446,384 pieces.
