Chinese tanneries return to full production

China
Most people in the industry began returning to work after the Lunar New Year holiday around February 4, but full production at many tanneries did not resume until earlier in the week to Thursday February 20.

Some smaller tanneries have shifted their focus to “cheap hides” since the holiday, which begun to firm up the hide prices in some cases.

It has been reported that the price range for packer heavy Texas steer (HTS), butt branded steer (BBS), and heavy native steer (HNS) hides is generally $29-35 per piece C&F China.

According to a few buyers, they prefer to buy big packer HTS, BBS and HNS if the prices become more attractive for shoe or automotive leather production.
