US weekly export hide sales up 30%; YTD shipments down 11%

The US hide market ended the week on a steady note, with no new trades reported. Market participants said that prices were consistent with those from Thursday February 20, and there is limited demand for branded steers, mostly due to a lack of interest from shoe tanners.

USDA cured, wet blue hide export sales recap
US export hide sales increased by 30% to 574,484 pieces in the week to February 13 from 442,985 pieces the week prior, while shipments decreased by 8% to 478,305 pieces from 518,185 pieces.

Total export sales for the 2025 marketing year were 3,481,534 pieces in the week to February 13, almost all cured hides.

Total shipments for the 2025 marketing year were 3,156,610 pieces in the week to February 13, down by 11% from the previous year.
