Gulf UCO, tallow prices edge lower; Chicago lard posts modest gains

Activity in the US animal fats and oils markets picked up late in the day on Monday March 3, with the US Gulf region reporting the bulk of trades.

Railcar prices for both used cooking oil (UCO) and tallow delivered into the Gulf fell to 52 cents per lb for April delivery, while Gulf yellow grease rose to 47.5 cents per lb for the same period.

Distiller’s corn oil (DCO) in the Gulf also faced downward pressure with railcar trades reported at 53.5 cents per lb for March and April delivery, while spot truck trades for DCO FOB Missouri River and Nebraska slipped by a penny to 50.5 cents per lb, based on trades received late on Friday February 28.

Elsewhere, sizeable railcar volumes of technical tallow traded slightly lower at 55.5 cents per lb Chicago basis on Monday, while lard rose by 2 cents per lb to 54 cents per lb Chicago.
