Yesterday’s commentary included mention of revised guidance for local Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices in administering loan programs. Access to FSA programs is a boon for hemp farmers, particularly those with a long-term vision for their farm, or with diversified operations. Short term lease situations won’t always lend themselves to utilizing FSA programs. Existing farmers may already work with FSA, have a farm ID and mapped fields. All hemp farmers in the US will be registered with FSA this year, which should expose them to relevant funding opportunities. The programs referenced in this commentary are routine offerings by FSA to farmers and are unrelated to SBA PPP and EIDL funds.
