Hemp planting is underway in many areas of the US, with variable weather conditions dictating regional progress. Conventional crops like corn aren’t necessarily a good indication of crop progress for hemp, but it tells a story that is very relevant to any warm season annual crop, including hemp.  Currently 93% of the US corn crop is reported planted, marginally above average for the previous five years.  That number has likely increased this week with suitable weather for field work. In comparison, last year at this point 64% of the US corn crop had been planted, well below average due to heavy and prolonged precipitation that caused rivers to swell and forced producers to adapt.  Indiana has sown 87% of their crop now, compared to 28% last year.  Modern hybrid field corn is well adapted to cooler soils, and along with treated seed, allows farmers to plant corn early in the season.  The following map shows the number of days suitable…
