Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
The hemp trade organization landscape is a crowded space, with no clear leaders, and a general need to define roles and leverage those into collaborations. Organizations like the US Hemp Roundtable, National Hemp Association, and Vote Hemp are focused on legislative issues and actively lobbying at the federal level, but also are busy in some states. The US Hemp Growers Association is rather new, but the only organization primarily focused on the farmer. They have hired a capable D.C. insider with extensive regulatory exposure while serving at USDA. Roles are certainly clarifying as we speak, but the industry is young, and hemp leadership is in flux in the US. Right now all eyes are on Hemp Industries Association (HIA), which has been around for decades, though the scope of their work has broadened in recent years, and certainly become more complex since the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill.
