Our commentary on shipping has been focused on the wholesale markets we cover.  Operators have told us that shipping truckloads of biomass is cost effective, and aside from the occasional traffic stop, commercial shipping has progressed appreciably.  Now we are seeing shippers enter the space, offering more insured options.  Interstate transport will remain an issue from a legal perspective, but producers and extractors say that the several thousand dollars needed to move large loads of hemp is not a significant obstacle with current hemp prices, and instances like the Big Sky case in Idaho last year are outliers.

 The retail portion of hemp markets encounter far more friction as goods travel around the US, not to mention, abroad.  To date, the USPS has been the carrier of choice for raw hemp – like flower.  Private carriers FedEx and UPS are able to inspect your package at will, and many workers with…
