Imported Organic Cracked Corn Increases Less than Expected

 

Organic corn prices will continue to have a difficult time gaining traction if organic cracked corn imports continue to come into the US. During the 2019/2020 season, organic cracked corn imports into the US declined year over-over-year but still are likely to register a robust 7.2 million bushels.

In August, The Jacobsen estimates that approximately 27,000 metric tons of organic cracked corn arrived at US shores. This compares to the Jacobsen’s prior estimate of approximately 28,500 metric tons of organic cracked corn imports expected during August. Organic cracked corn imports into the US in August increased by 22% year over year compared to the same month in 2019. All of the organic cracked corn that came into the US in August came through the east coast either through the port in Morehead City North Carolina or the port in Willmington Delaware. The export country as usual was Turkey through the port in Giresun.
