Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Biomass is being harvested in some locations, but we’ve yet to see any significant spot transaction volume for 2020 crop biomass. The trend to harvest premium flower off the top has expanded as farmers seek to maximize returns on the crop. 58% of producers we surveyed are gleaning marketable flower off the top end of their plantings. Hemp flower prices remain a bright spot as far as hemp prices go.
Producers report variable portions of their crops marketed as premium, AAAA, top-shelf flower, only a percentage of the overall flower harvest. We’ll do a more thorough analysis on this data when we release our report in October.
