Cattle Hide Prices Continue Steady to Higher

Today’s Market

Market reports continued today at steady to higher prices. Sources reported strong sales volumes to close last week. Market values are expected to appreciate at a marginal rate in the near term, as long as there are no surprise COVID-19 interruptions. Prices for Heavy Native Dairy Steers moved up $0.50 per piece and Native Cows increased, jumping $4 for both Northern and Southwestern. Native Bulls, Branded Bulls, Kip Skins and Small Packer trades also refreshed, quoting up $2, $1, $2.50 and $0.50 respectively.

Last Week’s Close

The Jacobsen Hide Index on Friday closed at $18.98 compared to $18.19 Friday the week prior. Big packer steer quotes included HNS from $31, BBS at $29, BS at $18, and CBS at $17 and HTS at $21 FOB plant.
