Hide prices fell today for jumbo weight steer material, with spreads more in line with the regular and light weight material. At this point of the year, buyer concentration is more on leather orders than hide orders.

For week ending December 17, export sales for 2020 marketing year increased 53 percent to 285,499 from 186,525 and shipments decreased 11 percent to 444,291 from 499,173. Sales for marketing year 2020 totaled 25,441,106—mostly all hides. The average year-to-date weekly trends for federally inspected slaughter were 613,461, total export sales were 498,845 and total export shipments were 514,651.
