Slaughter is running at a low pace.

Cattle offers are scarce which are making ranchers ask frigorificos higher prices. But, they cannot complete due to the government “price-care program”.

As a result, prices of fresh raw hides increased by 2 pesos in all categories. Young steers trade at about 20/22 pesos per fresh kg, and a cow at about 6/7 pesos per fresh kg.

Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers are also quoting upwards from last week, at about US$0.26 per kg.

Slaughter is slowing and producing less hides than during December.

There are bids for higher priced steers that are bringing the bids for light weight hides up. There haven’t been any price increases…
