Australian Hide Prices Rise Due to Tight Supply

Slaughter is still low. The kill is predominately young cattle since there’s so few heavy hides. This contributes to the low supply of hides and more price increases. 

There is discussion of implementing gradual increases of 3 pesos per week per fresh green kg, but it seems to mostly be increases of 5-6 pesos every week. Last week prices averaged Arg$74 per green fresh kg. Pundits forecast for this week about Arg$ 77 per fresh green kg.

Consequently, good quality Buenos Aires wet salted steer prices continue going upwards, now at about US$085~0.90 per kg.

In addition, the Argentine Government announced it will probably regulate beef exports, which depresses livestock investment and encourages cattle liquidation.
