Soybean Crush Central Illinois – Est. Crush Margin Continues Higher

Estimated crush margins reached multi-year highs as stronger soybean oil values and falling soybean prices more than compensated for a six percent drop in soybean meal price.  This allowed the margin to continue its drive higher.  In Central IL, soybean costs fell 4.5 percent, soybean oil prices increased 0.7 percent, and soybean meal prices dropped six percent during the week ending May 27, 2021. Soybean oil prices rival highs last seen in 2008.  The value received from oil and meal sales per bushel of soybeans crushed declined from $18.81 per bushel to $18.30, while soybean prices dropped from $16.12 to $15.39 cents per bushel.  This allowed the margin to expand 22 cents to $2.91 per bushel.  The crush margin this week is 8.3 percent over last week’s and 145 percent above last year’s measure.
