Ranchers strike and work confinement resulted in slaughter reduction this week. For the time being, green fresh frigorificos prices remain at approximately Arg$72 per kg.
Consequently, a large amount of wet salted hides were traded and, although the week was short, activity decreased.
However, good quality Buenos Aires wet salted steer prices continue quoting stable at about US$085~0.90 per kg., but with upwards pressure.
Demand for leathers is diminished by the holidays in the northern hemisphere, but the reopening in the US and Europe is beginning which may lead to an increase in consumption.
A semi-finished shoe leather is quoting today at around US$1.85 for TR1, US$1.55 for TR2 and US$1.10 for TR3 per sq.ft.
