Weakness in the soybean meal market and lower prices out of the US have contributed to a downturn in MBM prices into the Asian markets. Trading into Indonesia was done in a lower range this week and values are off $10 into Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Australian MBM prices are up on continued, tight supplies and a weaker Australian dollar. The MLA estimated Eastern States cattle slaughter at 95,025 head for last week. Production has been relatively stronger to close out June and start July, but numbers remain well below the prior three year average. Strong demand from the aquaculture sector is keeping the feather meal and poultry meal markets well supported.

US domestic prices are lower this week for ruminant MBM. Sales of pure beef material for export have been indicated as high as $455/MT FOB US interior, but the bulk of pure beef packer material is trading below $400/MT FOB rendering facilities. Pet grade poultry by-product meal and…
