A rangebound tone was noted for most items in the animal protein sector. With continued volatility in the futures market for soybeans, most participants held  a wait-and-see attitude for Monday. For the week ending July 24th, 2021, hog slaughter is anticipated to be 2.375 million head, with the possibility to be slightly lower, due to typical summer slaughter trends. A 2.375 million head slaughter would be 4.2 percent higher than last week, but a 7.8 percent drop from last year.
