Organic Corn Imports Rise in August

Organic corn imports increased in July by more than the Jacobsen had expected. Most of the imports that arrived on U.S. shores came from Argentina. About 20% of the total was imported from Canada. According to the most recent information from the U.S. Customs Department, approximately 22K metric tons of organic whole corn was imported into the United States in July. Organic corn imports increased by about 100% year over year compared to the same period in 2020. Organic corn imports in July increased by 528% year over year. Despite the robust increase in July, for the 10-months of the old marketing period, organic corn imports are down a substantial 36% year over year. The drop in imports in organic whole corn has not been made up by increases in imports of organic cracked corn, which have remained steady year over year.
